Long-awaited Singing Talent Show—”Jungle Voice 3”—Returns on December 3 with Judges Harlem Yu and Lala Hsu in a Completely New Set, Starting a New Chapter in Taiwan’s Singing Talent Show History

Today (November 12), Taiwanese singing talent show “Jungle Voice” announced that the show’s long-awaited third season will finally premiere on December 3, airing every Friday at 9 p.m. After two years of silence, the new season will feature a brand-new judge-mentor duo—Harlem Yu and Lala Hsu. In addition, Lulu Huang will be hosting the show for the third season in a row. Eastern Group President Gary Wang and senior TV show producer Wei-Chung Wang also made a surprise appearance at the press conference to wish the new season great success and to express their hopes for another Golden Bell Award.

Both judges agreed that the contestants of this season have made a big impression. LaLa and Harlem were particularly excited about the chance to work with recognized mentors in the music industry. They also hoped that the collaborations and competitions of the show will inspire creativity and lead to more memorable works and performances for the audience.

As the more experienced mentor of the duo, Harlem said that even though the contestants of this season all seem quite capable, he will nonetheless be on the lookout for hidden gems. He also encouraged the contestants to take on a more unique or aggressive musical style to differentiate themselves from the group. Lastly, he also said that he will be engaging more with contestants this season to fulfill his role as a mentor. As a former talent show winner, Lala reminded the contestants that they need to relax and put their hearts into their performances to let their music reach the audience.

As for their jungle symbol, Lala decided to choose the enoki mushroom as her symbol, which is commonly known as the “see-you-tomorrow” mushroom in Taiwan. She said that the mushroom represents her commitment to always be by contestants’ side and help them grow and improve since she has experience competing on singing talent shows. Harlem chose a tropical pitcher plant as his symbol. Besides having a distinctive shape, this carnivorous plant is also a predator of the jungle, which represents how he wants to take the best and brightest talents for himself. In fact, he said that he already has his eyes set on a few of the contestants.

Returning host Lulu Huang said that she has always been a big fan of singing talent shows ever since she was a child. These shows have made possible the careers of many popular singers, including the head judge of this season, Lala Hsu. Lulu said that to be able to stand on the stage of a show like “Jungle Voice” and witness the contestants’ rise to stardom is an exciting experience for her. As for Harlem Yu, she was surprised by how charming he is. Lulu was initially a bit scared of working with such a big name, but found him to be very approachable after working with him, even going as far as to say that, “Harlem is actually quite cute.” Ultimately, she found it comforting to work with someone that has a background in both hosting and music and that she looked forward to the rest of the season.

The production team said that they chose Lala Hsu and Harlem Yu for the role of head mentors because of their exceptional musical abilities. Harlem is known for his varied and innovative music style, while Lala is herself a winner of a singing talent show and is extremely versatile and creative with her music. The contestants in Season 3 have a wealth of creative talent, symbolizing the innovative musical style and creative energy of the young people of Taiwan. The head mentors will use their extensive experience to help young contestants develop their musical careers. “Jungle Voice” is sponsored by Uni-President’s Chai Li Won tea, supporting singers to pursue their dreams and encouraging young people to choose their own future. Do what you love and enjoy what you do!

For this season, 72 groups were selected from nearly 10,000 auditionees to enter the jungle. They include published singer Sophie Chen, 26th Golden Melody Award for Best New Artist winner Hui-Chu Wang, nicknamed the “construction site singing god” Leo, and TV show “Tears on Fire” insert song “To My Love” singer PoLin Tung. There are also singing competition winners, expert competitive singers, band lead singers, etc. The rich variety of talent will make this season more exciting than ever. “Jungle Voice Season 3” is also working with the Hakka Affairs Council to overcome the stereotypes and prejudices that some people have regarding traditional Hakka music through more diverse music. The program combines the musical talents of young contestants to showcase a new generation of young and popular Hakka songs to showcase Hakka music culture.

This year’s brand-new stage and mentor duo of “Jungle Voice” has made the show a sensation even before airing. This season’s competition formats include three-person free-for-all, one-on-one duels, collaboration competition with established singers, group competitions, senior-rookie collaboration competitions, and rivalry challenge competitions. Even more exciting is the championship for the final episode, which will be presented live with the final winner chosen by real-time voting. The winner will receive a Corolla Cross Gr Sport sponsored by Toyota. The car exudes glamor, practicality, and fun, meeting young people’s desire for individuality and freedom.

President Gary Wang of Eastern Group said that Season 3 of “Jungle Voice” is defined by three characteristics. First, Jungle Voice embraces diverse musical cultures. The show features songs in Mandarin, Taiwanese, English, and even songs sung in aboriginal languages and Hakka. Second, production spared no expense to move the show from a studio to the much more professional venue in Zepp New Taipei located in Xinzhuang’s Honghui Plaza to create enticing and highly professional-looking scenes. Third, a series of ecL and “Jungle Voice” co-branded cosmetics is being launched along with the show. The products are tailor-made for the contestants and a great opportunity for audience members to get a sense of what it feels like to be on the show. Eastern Group will continue to help young people and give them a stage to fulfill their dreams.

Eastern Commerce Company’s (Eckare) new brand, ecL, is also working with “Jungle Voice” to launch a series of makeup products, including air cushion foundations, eyeshadow and blush palettes, CC creams, and hydrating lipsticks. ecL not only sponsored the production of the show, but also generously provided the contestants with ecL cosmetic gift boxes as prizes for making it through each round. The custom-designed jungle-style design of the gift boxes is incredibly eye-catching. In addition, the products are designed to moisturize and repair the skin, keeping the contestants looking sharp and confident at all times!

Season 1 of “Jungle Voice” won the Best Variety Programme Award at the 54th Golden Bell Awards. Season 2 went on to win the Best Variety Programme Award, Best Sound Award, Best Directing for Non-Drama Programme, and Best Art and Design Award. These awards serve as recognition for the efforts of the judge-mentors, contestants, and production crew. Despite the pandemic, ETtoday forged ahead and kept the production of the program on schedule to encourage young people to follow their dreams.
