Eastern Natural Beauty Joins the NTUT Industry-Academia Alliance to Create Advanced, Scientific Skincare and Cosmetics

After stepping into the field of Natural Beauty cosmetics and skincare, Eastern Group has been actively strengthening its products and invited the famous actress Jiang Xin to endorse their products and to revamp the brand image. In order to move from lifestyle cosmetics and skincare to scientific cosmetics and skincare, and aesthetic medicine, Eastern Natural Beauty has been working hard to improve its technology and equipment. Today (8/22), the Eastern Natural Beauty and the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) have completed the signing of the industry-academia alliance. In the future, both parties will hold exchanges on professional technology and instruments, and both sides look forward to achieving more growth and breakthroughs in the field.

Liao Shang-wen, chairman of Eastern Natural Beauty, said that under the guidance of Tsai Yen-ping, Natural Beauty has been in development for almost 50 years. After joining Natural Beauty last year, Eastern Group hopes to achieve further development based on the original foundation. From focusing on lifestyle cosmetics and skincare in the past, the Group hopes to gradually move towards scientific cosmetics and skincare, and aesthetic medicine in the future. Therefore, in addition to its own expertise in the field of beauty and cosmetics, it also needs more external resources from collaborations. Whether its technology or equipment, the National Taipei University of Technology has a wealth of resources in related fields. After the two sides begin their collaboration, Eastern Natural Beauty will have a better chance to gain new grounds. Liao Shang-wen, chairman of Eastern Natural Beauty, specifically mentioned that in the field of SPA skincare, high-quality instruments will be able to do more with less work, allowing good products to be more effective. Whether it is skincare or body care, they will be able to quickly and effectively help consumers achieve the desired effect through non-invasive methods. This is also the direction that Eastern Natural Beauty is moving towards.

The Biomaterials & Surface Engineering Industry-Academia Consortium, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology and implemented by NTUT, entered its fourth year this year. The consortium brings together many partners in the industry, with more than 60 industry operators including manufacturers, developers, brands, and point of sales, and now Eastern Natural Beauty has also joined their ranks. Professor Fang Hsu-wei of NTUT pointed out that Eastern Natural Beauty started out in SPA skincare, and now it has gradually entered the field of aesthetic medicine and beauty clinics. But regardless of related products or medical aesthetics equipment, there are actually many restrictions when it comes to regulations and functions. In terms of industry-academia cooperation, NTUT will provide related services as a consultant in the early stages to help new medical and beauty clinics get on track. It will then come up with new strategies later with the goal of becoming a leader in the field of aesthetics medicine and health, even championing the concept of “Happiness and Health Industry”, which is often mentioned nowadays.

Professor Huang Sheng-tung, chief of industry-academia cooperation at NTUT, said that in addition to the electronics and electrical industries, the biomedical industry is also one of the school’s strengths. It has invested a lot of effort in the field. The industry-academia alliance is expected to bring two major benefits. First, an increase in talent training and reduction of the gap between theory and practice. Second, each manufacturer has different needs. In addition to the integration and exchange of new technologies on the platform, the school has also actively invested in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years. When it comes to applications in aesthetic medicine and skincare, it can better understand the needs of each customer. Through this, it can reduce channel costs and enhance the added value. In the future, it can also assist Eastern Natural Beauty in product sales and developing a better understanding of the customer base.

Professor Fang Hsu-wei of NTUT believes that in the cosmetics and skincare industry, market access is a crucial point. Good market access can determine proper product strategies. The industry-academia alliance hopes to assist manufacturers to incorporate higher-end and forward-looking technologies into the products, accelerating the growth in Taiwan and Asia Pacific in the short-term. The two parties hope that with long-term cooperation, they will be able to build a world-class brand.
